The trumpeter and composer Pauline Leblond brings together two worlds that are rarely combined: baroque music and jazz. In her compositions, fugues and chorales bearing the signature of Bach and Corelli alternate with jazz improvisations à la Ellington. This gives rise to a new musical language: elegant, lively, and cinematic. On the album L’Oubli (2025)—and soon at Brussels Jazz Weekend—musicians Guillaume Gillain (guitar), Fil Caporali (double bass), Daniel Jonkers (drums), Maritsa Ney and Julien Gillain (violin), Marie Ghitta (viola), Pierre Sutra (cello), and guests Mathieu Najean (tenor saxophone, soprano saxophone, clarinet, bassoon) and Timothé le Maire (trombone) bring that language to life.
