Shakara United is back! And although Fela Kuti described Afrobeat as “good vibes with a bitter message,” the Belgian band now opts for good vibes and a loving message. Their new album People of Love (expected in early 2027) is currently in the works, but at Brussels Jazz Weekend you’ll get a sneak peek, featuring Luc Weytjens (keyboard, synth), Jelle Van Giel (drums), Steven Van Gool (electric bass), Ken Pichal (guitar), Sarah Van Impe (congas, percussion), Mo Franken (trumpet), Loes Minnebo (trombone), Joachim Thys (tenor sax), and Stefaan Blancke (sopranino & baritone sax).
