“It’s not a big band or a marching band: it’s a crew,” Toots Thielemans once said about the Flat Earth Society. Since 1999, this eccentric orchestra has been navigating the space between written music and improvisation. On Missa Asinorum (2026), leaders Peter Vermeersch (clarinet, bass clarinet, electronics) and Peter Vandenberghe (piano, keyboard) present music as a circular movement, together with Gert-Jan Dreessen (drums), Cyrille Obermüller (double bass), Maarten Flamand (guitar), Wim Segers (vibraphone), Bart Maris and Pauline Leblond (trumpet), Peter Delannoye and Marc Meeuwissen (trombone), Berlinde Deman (tuba), Martí Melià ((bass) clarinet), Bruno Vansina (baritone sax, flute), Benjamin Boutreur (alto sax), and Sylvain Debaisieux (tenor sax).
